This report from the Deputy Chief Executive recommends that the Place Scrutiny Committee review its previous work programme, review upcoming items on the County Council's Forward Plan, and identify any topics for its ongoing training programme. p2p4p5p6p7

  • p19Exceat Bridge 2.6 The Committee has established a Reference Group to scrutinise the progress and delivery of the Exceat Bridge replacement project, as well as to consider how scrutiny can best input into ongoing projects. On 3 September the Reference Group met at the site of the project to hear latest developments on the construction and meet with Jacksons Civil Engineering, the contractor appointed to construct the bridge. The Reference Group will continue to meet for the lifetime of the project.
  • p20Local Government Reorganisation 2.7 The Committee has established a joint Reference Group, with members of the Place Scrutiny Committee, to provide scrutiny input into work related to local government reorganisation (LGR).
  • p212.8 The Group last met on 3 September and considered the Council’s draft LGR Strategy and Implementation Plan. Since this meeting, the Government has announced that LGR will be paused in East Sussex and Brighton pending a review of its national LGR programme. The work of the Reference Group is therefore paused until there are further developments in the national LGR programme.
