Following a temporary suspension of birthing services at Crowborough Birthing Centre, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust completed a review and concluded that the previous model of service could not safely return there at present. p12

NHS Surrey and Sussex intend to consider the future of services at Crowborough Birthing Centre as part of a wider programme of work on maternity services across Surrey and Sussex. p12

Since the Committee last met, its Chair submitted responses to the annual Quality Accounts reports for East Sussex Healthcare Trust, Sussex Community Foundation Trust and the South East Coast Ambulance Service on the Committee's behalf. p14

p12· A briefing from Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust (MTW), Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Surrey and Sussex ICB in relation to services at Crowborough Birthing Centre. Following the temporary suspension of services at Crowborough Birthing Centre, MTW has since completed a review of what would be required to re-introduce birthing to the site. The review concluded that the previous model of service provision would present safety concerns, and impact patient experience, concluding that birthing cannot be returned to the site at present. NHS Surrey and Sussex ICB intend to bring the future of services provided at the Crowborough Birthing Centre into the scope of a programme of work across Surrey and Sussex to consider maternity services.
