p74. LOCAL GOVERNMENT REORGANISATION AND DEVOLUTION
p8Robert Cottrill, Chief Executive introduced the report setting out proposals for the creation of a new unitary council structure for submission to central government by the required deadline of 26 September 2025. The county-wide proposal for a single unitary is also being considered by all the other East Sussex district and borough councils and East Sussex County Council. Hastings Borough Council is additionally submitting two alternative models (Federated District & Borough, and Coastal Unitary) reflecting consultation feedback and the particular needs of Hastings for government consideration. A covering letter will accompany the submissions setting out the reasons for providing three distinct options. Overview and Scrutiny have been asked to review the draft proposals and provide comments on each of the models.
