Sussex Police submitted a written representation to Hastings Borough Council in support of a licensing review of the Grand Pera premises licence, after the council notified police on 20 July 2026 that a review application had been submitted over a series of alleged breaches of the licence. p4p6

• p4Sir/Madam, As a responsible authority, under the Licensing Act 2003, I would like to submit this supporting document on behalf of Sussex Police to the licensing review raised by the Hastings Borough Council Licensing Team with regards to Grand Pera 7-8 Harold Place, Hastings, TN34 1JA.

Mr ERGUN eventually admitted that he had breached his conditions by allowing patrons to drink alcohol outside. It was then established that there was no staff training log or incident/refusal book as per the premises’ licensing conditions copied below;

As a result of this and the flagrant breaches of his licence, Sussex Police do not believe he is suitable person to hold a Premises Licence and do not have any confidence that he can adequately perform the role of DPS at a licensed premises.
