On any street, ward, place or topic page, tap 🔔 Alerts and your phone or computer will tell you when something new about it reaches the record, such as a planning application, a decision or a committee paper. A street or ward also tells you about food hygiene ratings there, planning appeals and storm overflow releases nearby, and a ward about new meetings its police team lists. Tap it again to stop. On iPhone and iPad this needs the site on your home screen first (Share → Add to Home Screen).

An organisation's page and a supplier's page have the button too: it tells you when a new council paper names the organisation. So does a search: search for a few words, such as the name of a park or a charity, and the search page offers alerts for when a new paper or planning application uses those words in that order. A name is matched whole; a paper that spells it differently is missed.

What we keep: the delivery address your browser's own push service gives us, and the list of pages and phrases you follow. We don't have your name, email address or phone number, so we can't tell who you are. An alert says how many new items and of what kind, and the name of what you chose to follow, never an address or anyone else's name, because a lock screen is a public place.

Follow a street, an organisation or a committee

Every page on this site has a feed. Follow one and you'll hear whenever that street, organisation or committee turns up anywhere in the record, whether that's a planning application, a committee paper, a grant or a consultation.

A feed is a web address your reader checks for you. If you don't have one, Feedly, NetNewsWire and Inoreader are free and take a minute to set up. Paste the feed address in and it does the watching for you.
