Open Hastings / The opportunity radar
The opportunity radar
A page that checks the tenders and consultations for you. Say what your organisation does, and it gets a page here listing anything open that mentions it: each match with its deadline, a link to the notice, and the word that matched.
How it works
The same matching as the topic pages: whole-word keywords against a notice's own title and text, so “bus” never matches “business”. There is no scoring and no model behind it, which means you can always see why something is on your page.
The notices come from Contracts Finder and Find a Tender and from the council's consultation pages — the same sources as the rest of this site. When a deadline passes, the notice drops off. Some weeks nothing matches, and the page says so.
We don't check whether you're eligible for anything. Read the notice for that.
What a profile holds
- A name, one line about what the organisation does, its keywords, and — if wanted — a value range and a list of wards.
- No contact details and no people's names.
- Everything stored is printed on the page. Nothing is held back.
- You give it, you can change it, and it comes down the day you ask.
- Each page has an RSS feed, so a feed reader can do the checking. We never learn who is watching what.
On the radar
A worked example
A made-up firm, to show what a page gives you.
A joinery firm lists joinery, shopfitting and carpentry, for work between £5,000 and £250,000. The council publishes a notice called "Museum display cases — joinery package". It appears on the firm's page the same day: matched "joinery" in the title, £48,000, bids close 15 September, link to the notice. A £2m construction framework never appears — outside the range the firm set.
Joining
By hand for now, starting with organisations we approach. There's no public address to write to yet; when there is, it will be on this page.
