£10k from The National Lottery Community Fund: Wild Strawberries Ukrainian Cultural Hubs
This project will support Ukranian people of all ages and genders through engagement in Ukrainian craft or food-making. It will invite local communities to the launch which will include live music; Ukrainian traditional food; and a workshop on making 'varenyky'; traditional Ukrainian slow-cooked food. This would be followed by a number of local events across Hastings and Rother where we would bring together Ukrainian refugees who are maybe living close by; but due to the rural setup are not likely to meet. It will provide a domestic environment where possible to offer a space for Ukrainian refugees to foster conversations and feel supported by their local community and also organise a number of picnic trips to local tourist spots.
